HAVING EXACTLY ONE RIVIOUS FOR KIDDUSH

If someone has exactly one Rivious of wine for Kiddush, the Mechaber Poskins that it should be left for Havdalah. The Elya Rabbah says the implication is that this case refers to exactly one Rivious. If it is even slightly more, then the overage should be drunk for Kiddush and a Rivious kept for Havdalah. If possible, it is only necessary to drink a Malei Lugmav.

ONE CUP OF WINE FOR THE WHOLE SHABBOS - PART 2

We already mentioned the Tosfos who say not to pour off part of the wine into a different cup in order to drink Kiddush from it, since it is necessary to drink from a cup that contains a Revious of wine. The Elya Rabba asks why not pour the wine into the second cup, drink from the first cup that contains a Revious, and fill the first cup by pouring from the unused second cup? He answers B'Dochaik that it could be a disgrace to the Mitzva of Kiddush to pour off some of the wine and just leave it there before drinking from that cup.

ONE CUP OF WINE FOR THE WHOLE SHABBOS

R'Yeruchim says if someone has only one cup of wine for the whole Shabbos, some wine should be poured into a cup following Friday night's Kiddush and drunk. The remainder of the cup should be saved for Kiddush the next day. It is important to do it in this order and to refrain from drinking from the Kiddush cup on Friday night since that would render it Pogem and unfit to make Kiddush on anymore.
