UNCOVERED WINE

SEIF 1 (Cont.)
It is prohibited to make Kiddush over wine that was left uncovered because of the risk that a poisonous snake may leave some venom in it. The Ritz Gayos says even in our lands where this risk is non existent and therefore we are allowed to drink from uncovered wine. Even so, we hold that it is not a nice thing to use for Kiddush and would be included in the Pasuk "if you  serve this to an officer, would he accept it? ( Malachai 1. Hashem tells Klal Yisroel about the terrible quality goods that they're bringing to the Bais Hamikdush. He wonders whether they would serve this to their officers which would feel degraded by such a gift, yet they wouldn't care bringing it to the Bais Hamikdash. See the end of the 4th Perek in Sukka (50a) where the Gemara uses it to strain uncovered wine.)
