MAKING KIDDUSH ON WATER WHEN THERE IS WINE ON THE TABLE

SEIF 15 (Cont.)
We already quoted the Taz that if there is water in the Kiddush cup, but there is also other wine on the table, one can be Yoitze with that wine.  The Maamar Mordichai disagrees. He says that since the intention was to say Kiddush only on the contents of the Kiddush cup, the other wine cannot be counted for making one Yoitze Kiddush. The Radvaz goes to the other extreme. Even if there is no other wine on the table, but if there is bread, then one can be Yoitze with the Kiddush said over the bread.

MAKING KIDDUSH OVER A CUP OF WATER

SIEF 15 (Cont.)

The Taz says that if someone makes Kiddush over a cup and then realizes that  it was full of water instead of wine, that person is not Yoitze Kiddush,  even  though the whole concept of saying Kiddush on wine is Dirabanan and a   person would normally be Yoitze with a D'oraisa with just saying the
Kiddush. (The Dagal Mervuvah notes here that one is Yoitze Kiddush Doraisa with his Davening, like the Magen Avraham said in an earlier Sief.  So he was Yoitze Doraisa before saying Kiddush over the water) The person is therefore required to repeat Kiddush with it's Bracha.

SPILLING THE KIDDUSH WINE - -PART 2

SEIF 15 (Cont.)
The Magen Avraham says that the case where wine spills and the cup of wine is replaced applies only if the person making Kiddush does not leave the place where the meal is being eaten and then return. That would be considered a Hefsik since he has lost focus on finishing the Kiddush by drinking wine. In other words, leaving after saying Kiddush (but before drinking from it) is the end of the Kiddush, and it can no longer be combined with other drinking to be Yoitze the original Kiddush, therefore Kiddush must be said over again.
