WHITE WINE

There is a Shaila in the Gemara whether a person can make Kiddush over white wine. The Gemara answers that the Pasuk refers to wine as "red", it therefore concludes that wine must be red. Ramban and Ran conclude that one cannot make Kiddush on white wine. Even though the Braisa permitted "Bodek" wine, which we translate as a white wine, the Ramban and Ran must have a different Girsa for "Bodek."

EXTRA SWEET WINE

SEIF 3 (Cont.)
Black wine and extra sweet wine are Kosher for Kiddush. Since the Shulchon Orech writes this Halacha without exception, sweet wine is permitted in all cases. It does not matter whether it became overly-sweet naturally (i.e. it was produced from mutant grapes) or because it became overly ripe from exposure to the sun.

WINE FROM THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE BARREL

The Tur says that L'chatchila one can make Kiddush over wine from the top of the barrel that has white pieces floating in it (which look like specks of flour), or dregs from the bottom of the barrel, since they are B'dieved Kosher with regard to the laws concerning Nesachim. The Magen Avraham prohibits making Kiddush if a membrane formed on top of the wine. The Elya Rabba permits the wine after removing the membrane.
