CHANGING ONE'S MIND TO EAT RIGHT AWAY

SEIF 3 (Cont.)
A person who has in mind to eat his meal in a different place from where he makes Kiddush, but then changes his mind and eats in the place where he made Kiddush, the Bais Yosef says he is Yoitze. The Taz brings a proof from the Gemara where Rabba tells his Talmidim to partake of food after Kiddush so they would be Yoitze. It appears from the Gemara that this conversation occurred after Kiddush took place. So we see that at the time of Kiddush there was no intent to eat in the place where the Kiddush took place, yet they were still Yoitze even though the intent occurred following Kiddush.

CHANGING PLACES BECAUSE OF A MISHAP

SEIF 2
If someone had in mind to eat in the place where he made Kiddush, but changed his mind after Kiddush, he is not Yoitze Kiddush. To remedy this situation, a person should eat something before moving to another location.

EXPLANATION FOR THE SHITA OF R' NISSON GAON

SEIF 1 (Cont.)
We introduced in the last Shiur the Shita of R' Nisson Gaon who indicated that intent to move helps even when moving from house to house. The major objection to his Shita is based on a Gemara in Pesachim. The Gemara asks: If Kiddush needs to be made in the place of the meal, why do we make Kiddush in Shul? (The Gemara answers that Kiddush in Shul is made for the guests who eat there. (Tosfos explains that it refers to a room adjacent to the Shul, since eating in the Shul proper is not allowed.) If it is true that intent helps from house to house, then it is Pashut why we can make Kiddush in Shul and the Gamara need not have posed this question. Anyone who has intent to eat in their homes afterwards can be Yoitze with the Shul's Kiddush.
