BEING MOITZIE A NEIGHBOR

Someone is able to be Moitzie his neighbor with Kiddush. The Gra brings a proof from the Gemara that the Chazon was able to be Moitzie the guests in the Bais Haknessis. Tosfos asks, how can the guest be Moitzie with the Chazan's Kiddush since they do not eat in the Shul and therefore causes a problem of not eating in the place where Kiddush is made? Tosfos answers that these guests were situated in a side room of the Bais Haknessis and the Tosfos holds that a person is permitted to make Kiddush for others who are situated in another room.

THOSE THAT ARGUE WITH THE GEONIM

Rav Akiva Eiger says that the Geonim, who hold that people are Yoitze Kiddush in place of eating a Seuda by drinking wine, are being consistent as to how they Paskin regarding the associated Bracha Achrona. The Geonim Paskin that after drinking wine, it is required to make the Bracha Achrona in the place where the wine is consumed. Just as they hold that it is enough of an established Seuda that a Bracha Achrona is required in the place where it was consumed, it is considered enough of a Seuda to be considered Kiddush in the place of a Seuda.

The Rama says that the Mohel can drink the wine from the Kos during a Bris Milah, since according to the Geonim he would be Yoitze Kiddush in place of a meal by drinking that cup of wine. (So the Kos of Mila can also be the Kos of Kiddush, and the wine be considered the meal in the place where Kiddush is made.) Yet, he concludes the Minhag is to give the cup to a child to drink.
