ACCEPTING SHABBOS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRINKING

Two people are drinking together, one of them turns to his friend and says let's make Kiddush. The friend agrees. The Rambam says it is prohibited to drink (or eat) at that point until they make Kiddush. The Taz says that this is not equivalent to someone suggesting Bentching at the end of a meal.  In that case, they may continue to eat without Bentching as long as they make another Bracha.

MAKING A BRACHA ON THE BREAD

SEIF 4 (Cont.)

The Taz explains that according to the Rif a second Bracha on the bread is made because there was a forced stoppage of eating. This would not apply to Davening Mincha in middle of a Seuda (though you may not eat while you're Davening) since there is no prohibition to stop eating as Davening Mincha can wait until later. Since it is an option to stop eating and was not forced, it is not necessary to make another Bracha when eating is resumed.

MAKING A BRACHA ON THE WINE

In the case where someone was eating a meal Erev Shabbos and it suddenly turned night, we have already discussed why the meal must be stopped in order to make Kiddush. If the Bracha on the wine was already said during the meal, the Rosh and many Rishonim Poskin that the Bracha of Kiddush is said but the Bracha of Hagafen is skipped.
