SAYING KIDDUSH AFTER A MEAL FRIDAY AFTERNOON (PART 2)

SEIF 6 (Cont.)

We previously brought down the Shitas HaRan who holds that if someone finishes the afternoon meal and it becomes dark, Kiddush is said, but it is not necessary to eat afterwards. Even though Kiddush is needed to be said by the meal, since a meal was already eaten, making Kiddush at the end of the meal is analogous to making Kiddush before or during the meal. DRINKING THE BENTCHING WINE BEFORE KIDDUSH

SEIF 6 (Cont.)
The Orech Chaim says in the case you finished your meal and then it turned dark, it iprohibited to drink the wine  from Birchas Hamazon, since it's forbidden to drink before Kiddush. Others argue and allow people to drink the wine before Kiddush. The Gra  holds that it is a continuation of the original meal. The Magen Avraham explains the Orach Chaim that first you must make Kiddush, then you drink the wine from Birchas Hamazon. According to those who argue with him, the Bracha on the wine of Bentching is said and there is no need to make another Bracha Hagafen over Kiddush.
