REMOVING WARTS - PART TWO

SEIF 2 (Cont.)
The Tosfos Shabbos and Mishna Brura both say though removing a dried out wart on Shabbos is Pawter, since it just crumbles from the skin, still it is forbidden to do so Midarabanan. The Shaar Hatzion brings a proof from a Gemara in Eiruvin. The Gemara there says that according to the Shita which holds the Mishna is not referring to removing dried out warts, because if it were, it would have allowed them to be removed in the Mikdash (where Shvusim are not observed) even using a tool. If it would be generally permitted to remove it, then the Gemara should have said that it would be allowed even outside the Mikdash. The fact that the Gemara does not say this, proves that it must be at least forbidden Midarabanan.

REMOVING WARTS

SEIF 2
The Rambam writes that removing a wart on Shabbos, even when using a tool to do so, is only a rabbinical prohibition. The Magid Mishna questions the Rambam and brings the Gemara at the end of Eiruvin which states it is a Torah prohibition like cutting hair and nails. The Olas Shabbos wants to answer that the Rambam's reason for exempting the removal of a wart from a Chatos is because it is a Malacha Shein Tzricha L'Gufa, since the wart is not necessary. The Elya Rabba asks that if that were so, then hair and nails should also be exempt? It is also well known that the Rambam's Shita is Malacha Shein Tzricha L'Gufa is Chayiv?

SHEARING AND PLUCKING

SEIF 1 (Cont.)
The Magen Avraham quotes a Rambam who says that one who shears hair from an animal on Shabbos is Chayiv, whether the animal is alive or dead. The same applies regarding plucking feathers from a chicken. This seems to infer that only plucking feathers makes one Chayiv, but plucking hairs from animals would not. Still, one who plucks hairs will still be Chayiv for uprooting something growing on a living being. The Shaar Hatzion maintains that the person is not really Chayiv, rather he means to say that it is just forbidden to do so, since plucking is not the normal way to gather hair.
