SQUEEZING A MIXTURE OF SESAME AND NUTS WITH HONEY

The Rambam writes that if someone put sesame or nuts in honey, he should not squeeze the mixture (to remove the extra honey) since that would constitute the Malacha of separating. We will IY"H explain this more when discussing Hilchos Borer (separating).

MAKING A DATE OR FIG RING

The Rambam writes that one becomes Chayiv for the Malacha of Maamar (gathering) by stringing together dried dates or figs. The Magen Avraham writes that this Chiyuv applies only when the dates are strung at the place where they fell from the tree, as the Kesef Mishna says, one is only Chayiv for Maamer if it is done in the place where it was grown. A proof to this can be found in a Gemara in Beitza.

GATHERING

SEIF 9
The Gemara says that if someone gathers salt from the place where saltwater is dried during the salt-making process, Rabba says he is Chayiv for the Malacha of Maamar (gathering). Abaya says that one would not be Chayiv for Maamar since this Malacha applies only to substances which grow from the ground. The Rambam and Rosh Paskin like Abaya. Still, the Tur says gathering from a substance which does not grow from the ground is prohibited MiDirabanan.
