The Biur Halacha asks why the Rosh holds that it is completely permitted to brush dirt off clothes and Rashi holds that it is permitted if he is not Makpid (even if the garments are white or old), yet all Poskin prohibit rubbing a turban to whiten it?

BRUSHING OFF FOR SOMEONE ELSE

SEIF 1 (Cont.)
The Biur Halacha says that if the one performing the brushing is someone other than the owner, there is a Sevara to say that the owner needs to be Makpid about not walking out on Shabbos wearing the garment even though he was not the individual who brushed it off. Since he is the actual wearer, then the status of it being cleaned would depend on him (i.e. whether he is particular or not).

CLOTHES DRENCHED IN WATER

SEIF 1 (Cont.)
The Kol Bo writes: If newer clothes were soaked in water and someone shakes them out on Shabbos, he is Chayiv, since it is assumed that he is particular that the clothes should not shrink while staying in water for a long time. The Magen Avraham explains that only when dew (which is a small amount of water) is removed from clothes, do we need to determine whether that person is particular about not having it remain on his clothes. But by a larger amount of water we assume that he is particular about having the water removed.
