DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ISSUREI HANAH

The Minchas Chinuch cites the following tradition regarding all Issurei Hanah that the Torah specifies as 'not to eat from'. The Issur must have a Shiur of a Kazayis and the Hanah from eating must be completed in the span of "Kdei Achilas Pras." This differs from the Issur of M'eila where the Shiur of Hanah is a Pruta's worth and every Hanah can be combined to add up to a Prutah even after a long period of time. This is because Hanah is it's main Issur. However, those Issurim that are based on an Issur Hanah which were learned from the Issur of "eating" , then the Shiurim are identical to those for the Issur to eat.

Therefore we can ponder what would be the Halacha if these foods become ruined and were no longer fit for consumption. It would seem from the Minchas Chinuch above that since it lost it's main Issur of edibility (the Torah doesn't prohibit consuming something inedible,) it would no longer have it's secondary Issur of having other Hanah. But the Tzlach comes to another conclusion, based on M'eila. Not only does it retain it's old Issur Hanah, but it is also more stringent. Even according to the Rambam that says you don't get Malkus for having Hanah from an Issur of food which became inedible because Malkus can only occur if the food is either eaten (and enjoyed as regular food) or is used in some other normal manner. Here where it is no longer food, but has another regular use, Malkus could attach to that inedible Hanah.
